From Dothraki in Game of Thrones, Klingon from Star Trek, or J.R.R. Tolkien’s 15+ languages of Middle Earth, the world of invented linguistics is a fascinating one. We’ll explore what language is at its most basic level, how linguists and fantasy authors go about creating their own languages, writing systems, and cultures, and then we’ll start to develop our own languages as we have time. No prior knowledge is required to participate, and it is open to anyone for whom this topic might be of interest.
Cancellations must be made five days in advance of the initial class session in order to be eligible for a refund to allow for system processing. Nicolet College reserves the right to cancel, reschedule, substitute instructors, or make any changes to classes as necessary. Age requirement for Community Education classes: Children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
